On Simchat Torah, Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak was one of the kibbutzim invaded by dozens of murderous terrorists. They went from house to house, killing and abducting kibbutz members, looting, and leaving destruction in their wake.
Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak was established in 1949 in the western Negev desert. The kibbutz elders love to recount that when they arrived, there was only one tree, a dirt road leading to it, and water occasionally arrived by trucks. Nobody believed that anything could be cultivated in the desert soil.
74 years have passed, and Nir Yitzhak has transformed into a green kibbutz, teeming with life and flourishing agriculture. Among its 600 residents, there are grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the kibbutz founders who lived vibrant community lives in this small place where everyone knows each other.
The murderous attack left the kibbutz community bleeding and shattered. All survivors were evacuated, but no one knows when they will be able to return to their homes. With the fields and cowshed abandoned, the kibbutz has also lost some of its primary sources of income.
We are facing a long and challenging period during which we will need to rebuild our community and restore our sense of security. It will take time, but together we will prevail!
We ask for your assistance. The funds you donate will be used to strengthen and support community members, including providing emotional care, equipment for children’s homes, facilities for the community’s well-being, and repairing property damage
