Founded in 1998, Hatzolah Medical Rescue is a world-class, non-profit medical rescue organisation, which services the medical emergency needs of the Johannesburg Jewish community, and assists existing local medical emergency services. Hatzolah has earned an outstanding reputation for both excellent medical treatment and the personalised care of patients. It is staffed by Jewish full-time employees as well as volunteers who provide a free service to all.
The organisation is supported by, and relies solely on, donations from the community. No patient who calls on Hatzolah is charged for the service. What defines Hatzolah is the utter selflessness of each of its members. Every individual joins the organisation for the simple reason that they want to help others – and we don’t rest until this has been done to the highest standards, and in the most humane way.
This culture of altruism truly sets Hatzolah apart from other emergency services. Whether the person is a dispatcher, responder or paramedic, we are all committed, every moment of the day, because we have a passion for what we do. It is this unique culture of care and community that drives the world-class treatment Hatzolah offers at all times.
